My calling in sport – and how I found it
Sport has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My childhood was shaped by exercise, vitality and discipline. This foundation, combined with the experiences from my active career, has not only shaped me, but also clearly defined my professional direction.
Read my story here.
At the age of 29, I was at the peak of my sporting career as a kickboxer and Thai boxer. My performance was improving, as were my successes – but the physical and mental strain was enormous. At the same time, I was working as a construction mechanic for over 40 hours a week – a balancing act that was no longer sustainable in the long term.
So I made a decision: I wanted to make sport my profession – and more than that, my calling.
My reputation as an athlete in the Trier region certainly opened doors for me. But what really made the difference were many small pieces of the puzzle:
my knowledge from countless hours of training, my experience as a group trainer, numerous sports certificates – and the belief that every person has individual potential that can be awakened.
I decided to pursue a comprehensive training programme to become a personal trainer at the Deutschen Trainer Akademie by Jens Freese, one of the pioneers in German personal training. The aim was to support people with genuine passion – with knowledge, motivation and a real understanding of exercise, health and personality.
I successfully completed the training. I still benefit from the experience I gained there today. In certain training situations, I often think: „Das habe ich doch von Jens gelernt.“
Jens said at the time:
‘It can take months to get your first client – and they have to want to stay with you for the long term.’
These words carried weight. And they were realistic.
I started anyway – with nothing but knowledge, three kettlebells, a pair of boxing gloves and a large dose of determination.
And then everything happened faster than I thought.
No sooner had I distributed my first flyers than the first enquiries started coming in, my appointment book filled up, and after six months I was already able to make a living from my work.
What sets me apart?
I offer genuine personal training. No mass programmes. No standard solutions. Instead, individual, 1:1-oriented training – functional, effective and tailored to the individual.
Every trainer has their area of expertise – just like a lawyer has their area of specialisation.
My expertise lies in functional strength training, body therapy and martial arts. With professional competitions, a black belt, many years of practice and in-depth training, I bring real expertise to the table:
These include the A licence from the German Trainer Academy (focusing on performance diagnostics, training control and functional training), my training as a martial arts trainer at the WKA, as well as international certifications such as the RKC Kettlebell Instructor (Hardstyle according to Pavel Tsatsouline), the StrongFirst Bodyweight Instructor (SFB) and the Flexible Steel Instructor (mobility & strength in flexibility).
My profile is complemented by Nadi muscle therapy according to Spiraldynamik® – a functional bodywork technique that focuses on myofascial balance and posture awareness.
This combination allows me to provide comprehensive, holistic training – individualised, effective and sustainable.
I am convinced:
The human body is capable of more than monotonous cardio training or dull machine training while sitting down.
During training, I pay attention to clean technique, correct posture and safe execution.
Squats, push-ups, deadlifts or pull-ups – if you master them correctly, you will not only train more effectively, but also protect your joints and spine and build real strength. Unfortunately, many people literally train themselves to exhaustion – because there is no one there to show them how to do it properly.
Invest in your health as you would in a good craftsman.
Initially, 80% of my clients primarily wanted strength training – today, many are specifically seeking a holistic approach:
From warming up with jump rope and mobilisation exercises to targeted kettlebell training, boxing combinations and functional strength exercises, followed by final stretching.
My focus is no longer solely on strength or endurance:
I work specifically on physical complaints, correct muscular imbalances and train asymmetrically.to counteract posture problems, restricted movement and uneven strain in everyday life.
Only when the body is back in balance – when discomfort is reduced, imbalances are corrected and structural alignment is restored – can functional strength training with kettlebells or boxing elements be safely and effectively integrated.
This creates a personalised training experience that is challenging, balancing and motivating at the same time – and the hour passes faster than you think.
In the process, my clients improve their movement quality, strength, endurance, coordination and posture – and melt away fat and frustration at the same time.
For me, that is real motivation – and health in action.
What confirms this for me are the many people who train with me over the long term – and achieve their goals step by step. For me, sport is Not a short-lived fad, but daily prevention – like brushing your teeth. All year round. And for many years to come.
If you like my approach and would like to work with me on your health, fitness or mental strength, you can find here my contact formular.
I look forward to hearing from you!
